Paris is a beautiful city in France, and it has a very long and exciting history! A long, long time ago, before there were tall buildings and busy streets, there were some people called the Parisii. They lived by the river Seine, which is a big river that flows through Paris. You can learn more about them by visiting the Parisii.

The Parisii were fishermen and traders. They made their homes on an island in the river called Île de la Cité. This island is very special because it is where the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral is located. The Parisii had a nice life, but then, around 52 BC, a big army from a place called Rome came to visit. This army was led by a general named Julius Caesar, and he wanted to take over the land. The Parisii fought bravely but could not win. After that, the Romans built a city called Lutetia, which is now part of Paris.

As time went on, Lutetia grew and changed. The Romans built roads, baths, and buildings. They loved to have fun, and they even had a big arena where they watched games and shows. You can find out more about the Roman times in Paris by looking up Lutetia.

After the Romans, many different kings and queens ruled Paris. One of the most famous kings was King Louis XIV, also known as the Sun King. He loved to build beautiful places. He made a giant palace called Versailles where he and his friends could live and have parties. The palace is very big and has lovely gardens filled with flowers and fountains.

Paris became an important city in the world. People came from all over to learn, work, and have fun. They built many beautiful buildings, like the Louvre Museum, where you can see paintings and sculptures. One of the most famous paintings is the Mona Lisa, and many people come to see her smile!

But Paris also had some tough times. In 1789, there was a big change called the French Revolution. People wanted to have a say in how things were run. They wanted to be treated fairly. So, they came together and said, "We want freedom!" This was a very important time in history, and it changed many things in Paris and all of France.

After the French Revolution, Paris continued to grow. More buildings were built, and the city became even more beautiful. A famous man named Eiffel designed a tall iron tower called the Eiffel Tower. It was built for a big fair in 1889, and many people thought it was amazing! Now, it’s one of the most famous landmarks in the world.

As you walk around Paris, you can find many other wonderful places like the Sacré-Cœur Basilica on a hill called Montmartre. This church is very white and sparkly, and people love to go there to see the view of the whole city. Montmartre is also known for artists who painted beautiful pictures.

People in Paris love to enjoy delicious food, too! You can find bakeries that smell wonderful with fresh bread and sweet pastries called croissants. There are also cafés where you can sit outside and drink hot chocolate or coffee while watching the world go by.

Paris is also a city of love! Many couples come to Paris to celebrate their love. They walk by the Seine River, visit the Eiffel Tower, and take pictures. There is even a bridge called the Pont des Arts where lovers put locks on the railing to show their love. They throw the key into the river to keep their love safe forever!

In the 20th century, Paris faced more challenges. There were two big wars called World War I and World War II. Many people were affected, and the city changed again. But the spirit of Paris and its people remained strong. After the wars, the city rebuilt itself and became a place of hope and creativity.

Today, Paris is known as the "City of Light." It is famous for its art, fashion, and culture. There are many museums to visit, like the Musée d'Orsay, which has art from a long time ago.
